Jean-next-door

Created by SARAH 3 years ago

Jean became part of our lives 20 years ago when we both moved into our new houses in Tithe Mead. From the start she was always 'Jean-next-door' as opposed to 'Jean-round-the-corner'. Thankfully, because she was such a good sport, she embraced the chaos that only a household with four boys and a dog can create. Trick or treats were always welcomed as she invited all the children in the close in for a smorgasborg of tasty treats and would equally play along with some of the tricks on offer.

We had a great party for the Queen's Jubilee and she willingly agreed to having the bouncy castle on her front lawn. The boys have Jean to thank for teaching them croquet as her set would come out in the summer without fail. She loved to see Ridley our springer and he would often accompany me on my numerous escapes for a cuppa and a catch up. She was truely my haven and I loved our conversations. Often simply listening as she reminisced on her childhood and family life. She would always update me on all her grandchildren who she was immensely proud of. And of course she would retrun the favour when I just needed to off load too.

Every year Jean would produce a beautiful Christmas card which she usually themed around the views from her garden or her favourite plants. Jack and my dad especailly enjoyed chatting with her about her arty past.

We missed her when she left Tithe Mead as her door and her heart was always open to us.

Thank you Jean-next-door for all the happiness you brought to our lives.

with much love Sarah, Alan, Jack, Sam, Joe and Charlie xx
